Simple ways you can help during COVID-19…

During this difficult and crazy time, it’s so amazing and heartwarming to see all the different ways people are stepping up to support one another. It actually gives me hope that we may just come out stronger after all of this! It started to really make me think about how truly fortunate I am and in that position- what I should be doing to help out the less fortunate! If there are others out there feeling the same way…..

I put together a list below of some different ways you can help out-even from the comfort of your own home!

You may have seen me talk about one of my favorite companies Young Living on here before. Young Living is my go-to for all my essential oils, cleaning and household products! They’re all natural, effective and super concentrated-so they last way longer also saving us some $$$!

Young Living is now donating 1% of all North American Thieves® product line proceeds to the Meals on Wheels COVID-19 Response Fund! This fund will assist Meals on Wheels programs in the U.S. and Canada. Meals on Wheels serves as an invaluable lifeline to 2.4 million vulnerable older adults, the majority of whom have multiple chronic conditions. Here’s a list of some other ways you can help out to get your gears going, feel free to share any others, I’m sure I’ve missed many!

• The first obvious one is STAY HOME- if not for yourself, do it for your loved ones
• Support local businesses by ordering take out/pick up services
• For any gifts this year think of buying local restaurant gift cards
• Donate blood
• Help with grocery deliveries
• Offer freezer meals to those in need if you’re in a comfortable position to do so
• Can you sew? There’s a strong need for masks! You can find a lot of sewing patterns for them online!
• Offer your entertainment- read books to kids, play an instrument, video a live performance singing or putting on a play!
• Offer free lessons for a musical instrument you know how to play
• Offer your knowledge of something! What are you good at? Cooking, painting gardening, DIY projects, kids crafts, natural remedies, woodworking, learning a new language…. Share your knowledge with others!
• Check out your local organizations for volunteer opportunities (most of the ones I read give you your own work space and/or follow the 6′ safety distance regulation)
• Want to donate money? Here are some fantastic organizations: No Kid Hungry, Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels, First Book, Feed the Children, Feeding America, Direct Relief, CDC Foundation, Red Cross….. and SO MANY MORE!
• Donate hand sanitizer & other resources to the homeless- they’re at larger risk of spreading the virus
• Donate clorox wipes, respiratory masks, hand sanitizer, soaps, goggles, disposable gloves, etc. to hospitals in need if you have an abundance of any of them
• Volunteer from home through online organizations: Alone- organization that provides companionship to elderly, 7 Cups- online emotional support, Be My Eyes- assist the blind, United Nations, Red Cross and so many more!
